Is One Required To Have Auto Insurance On A Car That Isn’t Being Driven?
My car is currentlysitting in a friend’s garage. I plan to go get it in a few months, but meanwhile is it required to be insured even if it’s just sitting there?

If that was the requirement, I am at fault as I have about 15 cars/trucks/motorcycles that aren’t driven nor insured!
Some insurers will allow you to place your cover on hold while you aren’t driving it.
If it is off the public road you don’t need to insure it.
I find the best car insurance by getting quotes from running two comparison tools:http://car-insurance.moneysavecenter.com…http://car-insurance.moneysavecenter.com…
DEPENDS on the state/ny you cancel insurance and you must turn the plates in/some other states also do that/check with y our dmv/in ny if you cancel insurance and dont turn the plates in they suspend the registration and when you go to dmv you are fined and the reg stays suspended
only some insurance to protect against fire & theft if it has some value. i have a summer car that i only keep comp on . when its parked for the winter. driving insurance, no .. why would you insure it ? just make sure the keys are in your control my car has been this way for 10 winters now.
Yes, you are required to insure it. If the car isn’t running, you can register it with your local DMV as non-use or “black tag”, but you will have to register it again when it’s running.
If you are not driving it but you plane to get it back in a few moths.I would think that It would be required that you have it insured even though you are not driving it until a few moths
It depends on where you live. I Don’t need insurance on a sitting, garaged car. (I would keep comprehensive on it though but it is not required)
If there is a license plate [tag] on the car in your name. You must keep insurance on it. If no plate then dont worry about it.
