Im not sure if it really makes a difference which setting you use but all the gell batteries i have ever seen have a six pack look on the lower part instead of a square box look. None of my big battery chargers have any settings for what style of battery your charging and i have been using them for years with no trouble.
Gel batteries are not common. They are highly expensive and rarely used in automobiles as a standard replacement. They are even less common than those “Optima” batteries which are AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries. Use the standard setting on your charger.
look on the battery. ive never had a gel battery in any of my cars. so unless you installed one yourself, chances are its the acid type. not maintenance free and non-maintenance free batteries will not charge differently, so set it on that setting and let it charge
the two settings are either 6volt or 12 volt( you need 12 volt) or high and low rate of charge if you do not need the battery quickly use low and leave it it for 24 hours if you need it more quickly use high
if your battier charger has two settings it ether 6 volt or 12 volts i know that this may be confusing for some that have not the education in such matters but i will do my best to educ at you farther on your bat charger it should say 6 or 12 and it should indicate that or hi and low it may also indicate auto or manual excuse my spelling it my weakness but manual only over rids the auto trip on the charger and you will need to mo niter you charge of the battier on auto it dose this for you now to deter man if your batter is maintenance free is quit e Sample by looking at the top of your battery it will ether be closed or have caps on it if its got caps its not if you cant check the water Levey in it then its maintains free and you should not Proceed to bother with it any farther than to recharge it or replace it if dose not take charge and hole charge in order to deter man what voltage is of your battier you will need to count the number of cease that hold water in them and multiply by two this will tale you how many volts the battier should have at Fuller charge and you should not charge a six vote battier with 12 volts and vice verse for bat tiers do ex plod and have been know to case some harm to the ones that do not know what can happen when charging a dead SHORT battier so be for starting to charge make shure there is water in your battier or you may have to get some plastic surgery done or suffer some rather nasty lose of eye sight but any how hope this aniseed you question and has giving you some insight on just how much a me ch is Truly worth and why i be leave that a me ch is worth much more than the doc that has lose so mane of customers do to death just a bite of HUMMER
